History
In 2008, working to localize their efforts to support healthcare, Dani Sahner Brier and Jacob S. N. Brier co-founded LIFEcycle, Inc.
The initial purpose was for the organization to host an annual bike-a-thon that raises funds for local cancer treatment. In just two short -- and turbulent -- years, LIFEcycle has become so much more.
With two annual fundraising and publicity events, the Ride 'Round Rhody bike-a-thon and the Until There is a Cure benefit concert, and Team LIFEcycle promoting healthy, active living, LIFEcycle has quickly become a force in the community.
Quick Facts:
- In 2009, Ride 'Round Rhody raised more than $10,000 for local cancer treatment and 100 percent of the participant-raised funds were donated to local oncology centers for various services, including clinical trials that have a national and even global impact
- The first year of the bike-a-thon saw 49 riders, 40 volunteers and 300 donors
- Most recently, in 2011, there were 112 cyclists, 25 volunteers and nearly 600 donors
- LIFEcycle provides direct services to the community, through Team LIFEcycle, by hosting monthly events for specific populations with barriers to, or an increased need for, living healthy, active lifestyles -- these events are held free of charge for members of each targeted population
